Why Fish Radio Episode #34

Listen Now (mp3)

This is an exciting week at Why Fish. We had an opportunity to fish in the Fish Winnipeg Challenge last week. This is an event that raises funds to teach at-risk youth how to fish. The idea is to give the kids a rod and reel then teach them to fish in Red River and hopefully keep them out of trouble. Besides talking about Fish Winnipeg we got an interview with professional fisherman and co-chair of the event Don Lamont. I think you will find this event to be unique and a great cause.

Also last weekend the winner of our days guided trip from Trophy Cat Adventures spent the day with Kent Hollands. They tell me that they caught 13 fish with the smallest being 11 pounds. Hopefully we will have pictures for you in the near future.

Why Fish Radio is brought to you by Cats on the Red. The feedbags are on and the fishing is hot. We plan to be up there next weekend. Hope to see you there.

Why Fish Radio Episode #33

Listen Now (mp3)

As promised this week we have special guest Lynn Schueter, Aquatic Nuisance Species Specialist from the North Dakota Game and Fish. Lynn takes the reins to tell us about how we can prevent ANS and what it will do to a fishery if it ever arrives. Make sure you listen to this show and tell your friends. (You may have to turn up the volume a bit due to Lynn's soft voice.)

I hope we get the North Dakota ANS plan for the site soon.

Remember Why Fish is brought to you by Cats on The Red of Lockport, Manitoba.

We hope to have some interviews from the 2005 Fish Winnipeg Media Challenge next week.

Why Fish Radio Episode #32

Listen Now (mp3)

This week we go on a rant about the local media. There is a great catfish tournament in town called Cats Incredible. It is one of the most popular and best run tournaments in the country and the local media seems to have forgotten about it. They are more interested in the activities around it than that actual tournament. No where could you find the leaders going into day 2.

We also talk about the finding of zebra muscles in Mille Lacs Lake Minnesota. Aquatic Nuisance species are getting closer and people just don't care. THIS IS SERIOUS! It is a subject that needs to be spoken of more. We will try to get an interview with the head of ANS prevention from the North Dakota Game and Fish in the near future.

Why Fish Radio Episode #31

Listen Now (mp3)

This week Brad Dokken tells us about his recent fly-in trip to Ontario, Canada. Talks about the successful fishing, the food and the fun. We also visit a bit about the observation that summer is quickly passing us by. It seems we were ice fishing just a few weeks ago.

If you remember back a few shows we talked about a co-worker who's young boy wanted to go fishing. Well we took him out and he caught his very first fish. A fisherman is born.

Another note: Brad Durick has been accepted as staff for the Minnesota fishing web site Lake State Fishing. It is a great web site that is very infomative and has many great members to visit with and learn from.

Why Fish is brought to you each week by Cats on the Red of Lockport, MB. The water levels are now perfect and the fishing is down right amazing. Book your trip today. www.catsonthered.net

Why Fish Radio Episode #30

Listen Now (mp3)

This week only has one Brad but that is ok because there is a very special guest. Brad Durick had the pleasure of talking with Loren Keizer from Fargo, North Dakota. Loren is exactly what Why Fish is all about. He took up fishing only three years ago when he was 22 years old and understands the passion that fishing can cause. Besides talking about the love of fishing the interview took place right after Loren's very first trip Catfishing on the Red River. He also tells us about the excitement of catching the first catfish. Thanks for joining us Loren.

Why Fish Radio is brought to you by Cats on the Red of Lockport, Manitoba. If you are looking for a truly special fishing experience book a trip with Stu on the all new "Cat" illac.

Next week Other Brad will be back to talk about his fly-in trip and many other things.
