Why Fish Radio Episode #38

Listen Now (mp3)

This week we talk about report all poachers and the importance of reporting people keeping to many fish. We also talk about some proposed rule changes to the states of North Dakota and Minnesota to protect big catfish.

The proposed rules would protect all catfish between 24 and 38 inches and would have an open season on catfish for three weeks each summer.

Why Fish Radio Episode #37

Listen Now (mp3)

This week Brad & Brad discuss the addiction and fascination of Muskie fishing. We are very lucky to live right in the heart of the land of the muskie here in the North Country. Brad shares some of his experiences with catching big muskies. We also talk about the guys who make catching muskies a mission that will go on for their entire lives.

We also had a chance to preview a new video on the market called 10,000 Casts. This video is a documentary about the legendary Cave Run, Kentucky. This is one of the only waters in Amercia where you can catch muskie all year long. We talk about what we saw and we also discuss what we liked and/or disliked about the film. To purchase 10,000 Casts or to learn more about it log on to the web site www.tenthousandcasts.com

Why Fish Radio Episode #36

Listen Now (mp3)

This weeks show is a bit late because the Brads had to fish before the show. The Red River at Grand Forks is on fire. According to the guides and the locals this is the best year in history as far as big fish being caught.

We talk alot about the fall fishing opportunities. People always think that you have to quit fishing on Labor Day and that just isn't true so we talk about fall success. We also talk about Brad's loss of a true friend. He accidently kicked his beloved #1 e-cat rod and reel out of the boat. He remembers the years of fun that that rod provided.

We would also like to take this time to invite you for your feed back on Why Fish. We want to hear from you. Tell us what we can do different or send us your fish stories so we can share them with others.

Why Fish is sponsored by Cats on the Red of Lockport, MB. Greenback season is right around the corner.

Why Fish Radio Episode #35

Listen Now (mp3)

This week we have special guest and friend Kent Hollands of Trophy Cat Adventures from Grand Forks. We talk about the fishing on the Red and how his new guiding business has progressed in it's first year. We also talk about the trip our winner Darren Appert of the day guided on the Red River by Kent. The day was really a great success. The photo on the right is Darren holding a great Red River Double. To learn more or book a trip go to www.trophycatadventures.com

We also play another interview with Lynn Schlueter of the North Dakota Game and Fish to discuss further the Aquatic Nuisance Species prevention. In particular we talk about what would happen if Carp get into Devils Lake. We hope to have more talks with Lynn in the future.

As always Why Fish is brought to you by Cats on the Red. Word is from Lockport that the greenback walleyes are starting to show up. This should be a record breaking year for big fall greenbacks. Look them up on the web at www.catsonthered.net
