Big Big show this week. There were many fish caught around the region. Dokken talks about his adventure to the Undisclosed Body of Water where he joined his brother for some pike slammin. He also spent an evening on the Red with Kent from Trophy Cat Adventures chasing kitties. The water temps are pushing the fish to spawn and they wanted to get the tail end of the pre-spawn run.

We also have a special segment where we interview Jon Mitzel from Dakota Country Magazine about trout fishing opportunities in North Dakota. This week we talk about our latest adventures to a small river and to Devils Lake. Wind was a huge factor that caused plans to be changed and made it difficult to get to fishing spots. Brad Dokken talks about his day spent on Devils Lake with PWT professional Johnny Candle. They toured the lake and caught fish during Candle's tournament preparation.

We also change gears and talk about the upcoming Memorial Day weekend and offer some tips to stay safe on the water and have more fun. Be patient at the boat landings. If someone is having problems offer a hand rather than get mad. Don't be dumb and load your boat on the landing, do it before you get there. Just be cool, be safe and have fun.

The long awaited walleye opener at Red Lake has come and gone. turns out with all the hype the people stayed away. They were expecting in excess of 2000 boats and they only got about 150. Those who ventured out for the first opener since 1999 had a great day.

Aquatic Nuisance is again in the news with zebra mussels being found in a water that could find it's way to the Missouri River. It is up to all of us to help prevent these things from spreading. Please wash your boats, trailers and clean out your live wells before entering a new body of water.

Why Fish Radio Episode #70

Show # 70 what a ride it has been to get here. When we started this adventure we weren't sure where we would end up. Hopefully we will have 70 more and then some.

This past weekend was our first trip of 2006 to chase Red River catfish. It started out right where 2005 ended for the year. We landed eight catfish with all of them being over 10 pounds. Dokken started out his season with a 19 pounder and Durick started with a 16 pounder. Not bad!!!

Only a few more days until the Minnesota walleye opener. Brad Dokken will be at Red Lake for the first walleye season in seven years. Red Lake has come back from being devastated by over fishing. The comeback is a true success story. We will have a full report next week. With the history of Minnesota openers it is inevitable that we will be talking about crummy weather. Stay Tuned.
