Why Fish Radio Episode #83

Listen Now (mp3)

Back for the second week in a row. Durick had another great week on Devils Lake with more fish coming on crank baits and lead core line. This method of catching fish is really getting to be an effective way to land fish. The photo is of the 29" we talked about last week.

Dokken returns from a Lake of the Woods adventure where an old friend who now lives in Spain traveled back to Minnesota with his 8 and 10 year old sons for some downrigger fishing on LOW. The wind came up and made for a horrible 20 mile boat ride but the fish were snapping and the kids enjoyed the fishing they traveled half way around the world for. If there are walleyes in Spain they are not safe now.

Why Fish is brought to you each week by Cats on the Red, Today's Tackle, E'Tackle Direct, and Trophy Cat Adventures.

Why Fish Radio Episode #82

Listen Now (mp3)

Well we are back after a two week lay off for vacations. First Brad Dokken went to Lake of the Woods for some Lake Trout action. That trip proved to be less than eventful as far as the fishing but fun was had by all. Even with poor service at the resort it was a good trip.

Brad Durick's vacation started out with some slow fishing with only little fish being caught but with only three days left he hit the mother load with Clint from Ed's Bait Shop in Devils Lake. Clint was kind enough to teach the finer points of lead core line and it paid off with a 26+ inch and a 29 inch walleye.

We visited about trips and how fast the summer has gone and how much fun we have had. A few weeks left and we should all get out and enjoy what summer is left.

Don't forget the fine sponsors of Why Fish. Etackle Direct, Today's Tackle, Cats on the Red and Trophy Cat Adventures.

Why Fish Radio Episode #81

Listen Now (mp3)

This week we re-cap the annual Canada fishing trip. We talk about fishing Lockport for catfish including my new personal best catfish of 38 inches. That fish hit at the boat so who ever says catfish are slow bottom feeders is wrong. We also talk about going through the St Andrews Lock to get above the dam. Brad Dokken fished in the lock and caught a 32" catfish.

One day we drove the boat from Lockport into Downtown Winnipeg to have lunch and do some fishing. What a great way to see the city and spend an afternoon. We would recommend it to anyone.

The last day we headed two hours east to Crow Duck Lake. This is a catch and release only lake that you have to be portaged to. We were picked up by the owner Bill and taken across Big Whiteshell Lake then in trucks to Crowduck. The fishing was out of this world. 300-400 walleyes between the five of us. If you are looking for an exciting trip that is the fly in with out the plane. Book a trip with Bill at Crow Duck Lake Camp. 204-222-7307.
